Gidget's Reflection

 I love the way I captured Gidget, our 4-1/2-year-old boxer, taking a stroll along the beach, with her perfect reflection in the sand, freshly wet from the big set waves rolling in.  I usually stay away from sepia setting, but it worked nicely in this photo...but, that's what I think :)

Derelict Gear Removal

So, I regretfully admit to not posting on here regularly in the last couple weeks or  more...  I have been so, so busy now unlike for almost a year.  I took on a few hobbies when I was not working/working on-call only, but now that I have taken on more of a full-time work schedule with 2 jobs as a medical transcriptionist, I cannot find so much time to spend on my hobbies such as my Stochastic blog, my jewelry making/selling and my scarf knitting/selling!  It's good and bad...  I need to work (my husband's job has currently run out of funding from the government, so no more work) and I do enjoy it!  However, its become more of a task to attempt to find time to even complete small tasks like this here blog, et cetera.  Such is life and life is such.  But here is a sad shot of something my husband sees every day on the job...A fishing net full of dead animals (sea and air animals).  This is what he has been doing for work for the last few years, diving for old fishing nets and crab pots that fisherman sadly lose and this derelict gear continues to fish/kill, so he saves the day :) over and over again.  Like I said his work has no more funding from the government (we are just hoping for another grant)... But this video is very cool...if you are interested in seeing in more detail what he does under the sea to save the day (heehee) here is a link.  The top video on the page...he is the diver in the boots doing all the dirty work (not the reporter diver in flippers).  This is him pulling a net off the rocks, taking them to the surface with lift bags filled with air.  This is the underwater part of his job.  Enjoy!!

Ay...Adore.Her.Hair

I say, "I cannot explain enough" a lot on things I adore because frankly I'm not the best with words in explaining how much I adore something.  I say here again that I cannot say enough just how much I love the woman's hair in this photo.  I absolutely ADORE it!  Rosy posy you need to do this to my hair!!  Lol...  ;)  


I do not have patience enough to do my own hair with such style, but I do wish I did.  Probably for someone with the natural or trained talent to 'do' hair, this is an easy do, but to me it looks impossible.  As my hair grows out though I wanted to save this photo here to remind myself to try it out and keep practicing.


This photo captures the beautiful essence of the hair style by far.

Vintage Glass Floats

Beached vintage glass floats are something people in the Pacific Northwest find awe in...They are collectibles here worth collecting.  They come in various colors and various sizes and sometimes different variances of round shapes.  You can find small or medium, but the real commodity is for the large vintage glass floats.  My husband has a real good eye for them!  We know some others here that have great exploring eyes for these now collectibles too.  


Check out this photo here of the latest ball my husband brought home!  Once a fisherman's work commodity, to a temporary home to varying slimy sea creatures and cleaned up and placed in my kitchen with the others =) (those little guys can find a home on a beach rock somewhere!).

...A Thing For Stairs...

Apparently I have a thing for stairs.  From my personal experience of capturing shots of the upward climb or downward I know one can carry out a quite delightfully stochastic photo experience...of stairs.  Each set of stairs holds a different take and a completely different story.  Take these examples I have encountered and see for yourself what I explain.  

Branches, Sticks and Snaps

Here is a shot I landed through the brush as my husband was surfing a small fickle break one day.  I quite like how the branch is in focus and he is in a slight blur in the background.  As if I was shooting the branch and yet caught him in action.  It's pretty sick...I love catching shots like this.  I only realized that recently as I came across this one and remembered I have another just like it but with the focus on a surf board and in the background our friend in the barrel.  It's pretty sick too--I'll have to put that one up another time.  Much love!

Here is a picture I found of myself taken sometime this year...on a beach...of course!  I just found it and LIKED it. . .lots.  I like the lighting I guess or .... I just like the way I was taking a random snapshot of my face like we all do and it happened to come out so nicely--the light is bright in the background and yet my face is not shadowed out...  Looks serene and pure...Yeah.

Monday Plumeria

I didn't know what to title this one so I just put down whatever popped into my head first.  Monday Plumeria.  I just looked up Plumeria (my favorite Hawaiian flower) and apparently its 'common' name is Frangipani....Okay.  Well I'm not naming this Monday Frangipani I don't care what Wikipedia says.  It sounds too much like 'friggin panti.'  

Back to this photo!  =D  So this is a photo I took early this year on a beach on Whidbey Island.  Awww...I love this photo.  The colors are great and the relaxed state my face is in...I mean I just look at peace.  I want that moment back.  There is almost nothing better than sitting on a warm beach with the sun resting on your face, closed eyes, just listening to the shore pound however heavy or light and smelling the sea's clean scent with a soft breeze and your boxer by your side...

Eye Catcher!

Definitely colors are a huge eye catcher for me in photos.  The right color shots can really make a photo stand out from all!  This is another example of a beautifully shot photo (one I found online as you can see by the name), but could not pass up putting it on my blog just to share it and remember it.  I love contrasting colors so so much and this is a great example with the red and sea blue/green there...Reminds me of my jewelry...I like to make jewelry with contrasting colors a lot of times.  If I was a wedding photographer I would aim to get the bride a shot like this one!  Good work guys!

Idyllic Power

Funny how we can feel so small in life or invisible at times as individuals.  From my experience it can be difficult to build oneself up to feel lofty and seen again...meaningful.  But sometimes doing something so small is all it takes to feel big again.  It's true!  Take this picture for example and what it brings out to me...That sometimes as a woman, just tossing back your head, throwing back your hair can make you feel powerful again.  It does something...like looking up.  It's a positive move and in some small way a move of power.  Next time I feel small and invisible I may just take my head upside down and flip it back to feel revived.  No seriously...I know from surfing that afterwards when I pull my knotty hair from out of my tight, stinky, sticky, wetsuit that when I bend over, tousle my fingers through my hair and throw my head back up as this it is refreshing and a bit of a power trip.  Haha...I guess you'll just have to trust me on this one or try it and agree with me :).  I think as a woman this movement can add a bit of sexy to our ego and maybe that is why it can be an empowering move in just a moments time.  Also the colors in this photo are idyllic (pleasing or picturesque in natural simplicity).  

My Love x Picnik

Ahhhhh....or awwww....or sigh....My love.

This is my husband the other day.  My Mr. Wonderful. 

I have been playing with a new picture program and dare I say its name?  It is called Picnik!  What a wonderful program for editing photos easily!  This picture was good before (see below) but I made it more, well, stochastic!  ;)  I love this style of photo with I guess that "seventies" look to it and I am not a flower child nor do I want to be considered near to one.  Lol.  *ahem*

Uh, so yeah just wanted to share my new photo-editing discovery and probably from here on out a lot of my own personal photos I post will be edited personally with the help of Picnik.

Run..and run..and run!!

Today we woke to a crisp, clear, glassy water day...In November!!  Gotta love that!  I spent the morning making a couple of necklaces for my small business @ http://www.etsy.com/shop/IslandShimmerDesigns, cleaning around the house, cooking and taking care of my injured husband :(.  But by mid afternoon I wanted to take advantage of the days beauty and so we drove to a nearby beach to let the dog run..

By then the wind had blown its way in so it was mighty cold, but still worth it.  I brought the camera along hoping of course to be able to catch a nice shot, a super moment.  I caught a few and I will post those on my Facebook page, but here is the one I chose to add to my blog.  I like the colors this camera setting arrays.  As you can see I managed to capture our whole family in the shot....sort of  :o).

One of Those Days

Ever have one of those days where you feel like this??  Lol!  I have to laugh a little when I see this photo whilst hoping the lil' fox is okay.  This is cute.  




Makes me think that when in a RUT at times we MUST get out and TRY to find a way to stay out.  :)

FANtastic...or just fan :)

Today I wanted to be creative in photography, but unfortunately it has been one of those nasty grey and rainy days outside and don't forget windy and cold.  Boohoo for me!  I had the option to go surfing with my love but...missed that chance.  So here I am at home taking care of things around the house and still feeling camera happy.  LoL.  I began snapping shots around the house of random objects or scenes that I thought may come out with some sort of artistic-ness.  This is the best I could come up with after uploading to my laptop and playing around with editing on Windows Photo Gallery.  I took this lying on my back on our living room wood floor.  Looking up at the spinning fan and playing with my shutter speed I began shooting.  Interesting I guess.  The bottom there is our red wall.  Yep.  Interesting at best.  LoL.

The coloring in this photo is gorgeous!!!  My favorite colors...Photographer Tim Walker did an amazing job here.  The scene is amazing.  

I don't know where such a building as this exists!    If only it were a short drive away I would go...

Perhaps somewhere in Europe...or New York?  I love it and would love to find it, pose there and make a moment.  Wow.

A Side of Miranda Kerr

First off I adore Miranda Kerr's look and like any girl wishing she had the beauty of someone else I wish I had hers. You may recognize her from modelling with Victoria's Secret...Not only will you find her there, but occasionally you may stumble upon a classier photo of her like this one from Elle magazine...I just love her classic look in this photo and perhaps you do too.
